We are delighted to share the success of our client, the National Head Start Association (NHSA)!

This past year, Pensarus led the strategy and development of the National Head Start Association’s Go Smart web app! We helped NHSA manage funding from Nike, Inc. and garner White House attention to translate a proven supplemental curriculum into a cost-effective and broadly accessible mobile web app!

On October 1st, NHSA launched the Go Smart web app developed in partnership with Nike and created to engineer movement back into the daily lives of young children. Designed to address the epidemic of physical inactivity, the Go Smart web app is a “coach in your pocket” that gives teachers, caregivers and parents of children aged 0-5 easy access to fun physical activities anytime, anywhere, on any device.

Beautifully designed by an international team of illustrators, Go Smart offers an inviting way to inspire families to get young children moving. Using the FREE app, parents and teachers can easily find activities that reach children where they are and help develop important skills and abilities. Through the tool parents and teachers can also watch video tips, share activities, get updates, track favorites, and build “activity boards” to curate their favorite games for future play.

NHSA teamed up with Nike to create Go Smart, which aims to increase physical activity for the youngest children.  The app aligns with the international framework for action Designed to Move. Launched during the year-long celebration of Head Start’s 50th Anniversary, Go Smart is the latest example of how Head Start provides effective, engaging, and innovative tools to address the many challenges facing our nation’s children and families. As Head Start’s 50th year progresses, NHSA will engage a number of partner organizations in the broader early childhood community to help create positive early experiences for all children by integrating physical activity into everyday life.

“Young children are designed to move. Studies unequivocally show active children do better in school and in life,” said NHSA executive director Yasmina Vinci. “We are honored Nike has supported our efforts to reach beyond vulnerable families to offer this great tool to families and educators through the nation.”
